About the banked Herblore XP calculator
Paste a bank export and get an estimate of the total Herblore XP sitting in your bank: herbs at every stage (grimy, clean, and unfinished potions), the herbs your seeds will grow into, and whatever is left over converted through Mastering Mixology. Built for Old School RuneScape ironmen, where every herb has to be farmed or collected, not bought.
How the calculator works
The parser reads rows of id name quantity (the format RuneLite bank exports produce) and keys everything off the item id, so renamed or unusual items never mismatch. Each herb is allocated to the highest-XP potion you have enabled; pin a potion to override the automatic choice.
Seeds are converted to expected herbs with the OSRS Wiki farming yield model: the chance to save a harvest life scales with your Farming level, you get 3, 4, 5, or 6 lives depending on compost tier, and magic secateurs add 10%. A ranarr seed at Farming 99 with ultracompost and secateurs averages about 9.2 herbs.
Mastering Mixology is modelled the way the minigame actually works: each herb grinds into exactly one paste colour (Mox, Aga, or Lye), pastes already in your bank count too, and the XP figure is the optimal mix of reward potions over your real paste pool, including the agitator speed-up bonus. You do not need balanced colours; the two-colour recipes keep lopsided pools nearly as efficient.
Assumptions the numbers rest on
- Cleaning XP is excluded; the total is final potion XP plus Mixology XP.
- Secondaries are assumed unlimited: potion toggles express what you are willing to make, not what you currently stock.
- Everything is an expected value, and the Mixology figure assumes optimal play, so treat totals as a ceiling rather than a guarantee.
- All game data is hardcoded from the OSRS Wiki, so the page makes no network requests and works fully offline.
Frequently asked questions
How do I export my bank?
Any source that produces id name quantityrows works; RuneLite's Data Exporter plugin is the usual one. Paste the result into Settings → Bank export.
Why does my total differ from other banked-XP calculators?
Most count cleaning XP and use flat herb yields. This one excludes cleaning XP, computes seed yields from your actual Farming setup, and adds an exact Mixology model, so it is usually more honest for ironman planning.
I would rather kill monsters for herbs. How much XP is that?
Use the Monster XP tool to see herb and seed drops per kill and the Herblore XP per hour they add up to.
