Gather Time

How long to gather a set number of logs at your level, axe, and location.

Gather table
One row per tree in fixed oak to redwood order, with the hours to gather your set number of logs at your level and axe, at ideal continuous chop rates; the footnote lists real-world losses.

Chop rates assume ideal continuous rolling; the wiki's published guild rates come in about 8% lower on yew, 12% on redwood, and 22% on magic (tree falls, respawns, walking between trees). The guild has 11 regular trees · 4 oaks · 7 willows · 13 maples · 17 yews · 8 magics · 2 redwoods (24 walls).

Inside the guild an invisible +7 raises the success roll, and the wiki's chart formula extrapolates linearly past level 99 (chart-derived wiki behavior, not a quoted mechanic); the boost never unlocks a tree, and no forestry events or group boost occur inside the guild.

The wiki flags its redwood dragon and crystal success pairs as possibly slightly off (they trace to whole-percent figures), so treat redwood rows as close estimates.

Regular trees are not listed: they fall after one log, so the success-roll model does not apply. Levels 1 to 15 take minutes on any regular tree near a bank.

Banking adds trips this model does not count; the wiki recommends dropping logs for maximum XP, and the guild has a bank chest by the magics and redwoods.

Not modeled: tick manipulation, the infernal axe, visible boosts (the dragon axe special, stews), and forestry events with their group boost (they occur outside the guild only).

About the Gather Time calculator

How long it takes to gather a set number of logs of each wood, at your Woodcutting level and axe, inside or outside the Woodcutting Guild. Say you need 5,000 yew logs for fletching: set the quantity, and every row shows the hours at the tree, the XP you gain on the way, and the level you finish at.

How the chop model works

While you chop, the game rolls for a log every 4 ticks (2.4 seconds), and the success chance interpolates between the OSRS Wiki's published values for your axe at levels 1 and 99. Inside the guild an invisible +7 raises the roll, and the same formula extrapolates linearly past level 99; that beyond-99 arithmetic is chart-derived wiki behavior rather than a quoted mechanic. The boost never unlocks a tree: cut requirements always check your base level.

Rates are ideal continuous chop rates, as if a tree were always in front of you. Against the wiki's published guild rates that runs about 8% high on yew, 12% on redwood, and 22% on magic, the cost of tree falls, respawns, and walking between trees, so treat the hours as a best case.

Kept logs versus chopped logs

With a felling axe and forester's rations, every successful chop grants XP but only 80% of chops yield a log, so the quantity you enter counts KEPT logs: the hours divide it by kept logs per hour, and the footnote states how many chops (and rations) the batch takes. Without rations, kept logs per hour equals the chop rate and chops equal logs exactly.

Frequently asked questions

Which tree fills my order fastest?

Read the Hours column for the wood you actually need; the table does not substitute one log for another. If any wood will do, the highest kept logs per hour at your level wins, and the guild toggle shows how much the +7 shortens the grind.

Why do teak and mahogany show dashes with the guild toggle on?

Those trees do not grow in the Woodcutting Guild, so there is no guild rate to gather at. Switching the toggle to outside the guild brings every number back.

Is the data live?

No. Cut chances, XP values, and guild mechanics are verified against the OSRS Wiki and hardcoded, so the page works offline.
